Bitte an den Genius

Note provided by Johann Winkler: as the text author (whose original text has not yet been located) uses several words not to be found in any lexicon, but writes a transparent grammar, stanza 1 line 3 word 1 should probably be "der" instead of "des", which makes no sense. The composer's autograph is exemplarily readable, however, so there can be no doubt about "des".

Text Authorship:

  • by Anna Kann  [author's text not yet checked against a primary source]

Musical settings (art songs, Lieder, mélodies, (etc.), choral pieces, and other vocal works set to this text), listed by composer (not necessarily exhaustive):

  • by Mathilde von Kralik (1857 - 1944), "Bitte an den Genius", 1941 [ voice and piano ] [sung text checked 1 time]
