Die mit ihrem Strahle mich geblendet,
hohe Sonne, ist hinweggegangen.
Aber ewig ist das Lichtverlangen.
Auge seinen Blick ins Dunkel sendet.
Meine Seele will empfangen.

Nun erhellt sich sanft mein dunkles Wesen,
wie dein leuchten auf mich niederbricht.
Kann in meinem eigenen Herzen lesen.
Am gedämpftern Quell mag ich genesen.
Heiter trink ich deiner Schale Licht.

To the moon

   For Eduard Korrodi

That which dazzled me with its rays,
the bright sun, has departed.
But the yearning for light is eternal.
The eye casts its gaze into the darkness,
My soul is receptive.

Now my dark being gently lights up,
as your glow bears down on me.
Can read in my own heart.
At this more muted source I want a cure.
I cheerfully drink the light from your dish.
