Die Stunde schlägt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Stunde schlägt, es naht das Boot,
du gehst, mein süßes Herz,
und all mein Leben wird ein Tod,
doch muss ich heimatwärts.
Und grüß' der Wogen stilles Haus,
der fernen Insel Höh';
hier sprach das letzte Wort sie aus,
dort schwand ihr Mast in See.

Um von dem öden Felsgestad',
wo laut die Möwe streicht,
durch der beschaumten Wellen Pfad
fort blick' ich tränenfeucht.
Beglückt, der ihren Schritt umweht,
o Indiens stiller Hain!
Und wenn sie atmend durch dich geht,
sag, denkt sie dann wohl mein?
