Mitten im Walde hüpft ein Reh, lustig, wer noch ledig ist! Weiß von Sorgen nichts, von Weh. (Was du für'n schmuckes Mädel bist!) Lustig, wer noch ledig ist! Füllen, das springt im Felde frei, lustig, wer noch ledig ist! Hört nicht Zank noch Kinderschrei. (Was du für'n schmuckes Mädel bist!) Lustig, wer noch ledig ist! Drinnen im Stalle blökt ein Kalb, wer da freit, hat gute Zeit! Wer da ledig lebt, lebt halb! Bursche, werdet doch gescheit! Wer da freit, hat gute Zeit!
