by Otto Haggenmacher (1843 - 1918)

Im Herbst
Language: German (Deutsch)
Einmal noch, bevor der Rebe
Welkes Laub zur Erde sinket
Und vom Felsenkamm der Berge
Frischer Schnee zu Thale blinket,
Zieh hinaus;
Schweife drauß,
Wenn die Sonne milde lächelnd winket.

In den Forsten auf und nieder
Duft'ge Nebelschleier wallen,
Draus, als wären's Thränen, Perlen
Thau's in's Moos herniederfallen.
Ach so stumm
Ist's ringsum,
Und kein Vöglein läßt sein Lied erschallen.

Nur die Bächlein in den Auen
Murmeln eine leise Klage.
Und die wilden Rosen neigen
Lebenssatt ihr Haupt im Hage.
Was erblüht
Und erglüht,
Schwindet wie die Lust nach frohem Tage.

Und die Sonne sinkt und Schauer
Wehen kalt dir um die Sinnen.
Lebenslust und Todesahnung
Kämpfen tief im Herzen drinnen.
Doch warum
Bang und stumm?
Lenz und Leben muß einst neu beginnen.
