  Tend le câble
Qui la traîne vers les eaux.

Déjà Vénus Cythérée,
  Éclairée
Par Phœbé, conduit les pas
Des nymphes, et sur les traces
  Les trois Grâces
Décentes dans leurs ébats.

Le chœur divin en cadence
  Suit la danse,
Tandis que l'ardent Vulcain
Souffle la forge qui fume
  Et qui allume
Le cyclope au bras d'airain.

C'est l'heure où parmi les fêtes
  Sur nos têtes
Le myrte nous réjouit ;
Le myrte ou quelque guirlande,
  Douce offrande
Du sol qui s'épanouit.
