by Anna (Nuhn) Ritter (1865 - 1921)

Schweigen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du gehst vorüber . . .
                                      Nebel steigen auf,
Die mir dein Bild, das zärtliche, vertraute,
In eine ungewisse Ferne rücken,
Wie bald, wie bald,
Ist Alles todt und leer
Und keine Klage, kein Verlangen mehr
Wird dann die Kluft, die tiefe, überbrücken.
Ach, und zu schweigen!
Aus dieser Lippen blühendem Thor
Trete kein Wörtchen lächelnder Hoffnung,
Kein Wehlaut schluchzender Sehnsucht hervor,
Kein leuchtender Blick soll dich grüßen!
Nur meiner Thränen blinkenden Thau
Streue ich blasse, schweigende Frau
In bitterer Noth dir zu Füßen.
