by Friedrich Hermann Frey (1839 - 1911), as Martin Greif

Das Matrosenlieb
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mein Schatz, der läßt flattern
Sein Hemd hin und her,
Er trägt ein schwarz Hütlein
Und fährt auf dem Meer.

Seine Stimm' ist so helle,
Sein Auge so blau,
Daß ihm ich auf immer
Und immer vertrau'.

Er sitzt in dem Mastkorb
Und schaut wohl hinaus --
Wach' droben, o Herre,
Und führ' ihn nach Haus!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Martin Greif, Sechste, reich vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig, C. F. Amelangs Verlag, 1895, page 199.
