by Franz (Seraphicus) Grillparzer (1791 - 1872)

Intermezzo
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im holden Mond der Maien,
Wenn lichte Blumen blühn,
Geflügelte Schalmaien
Die Waldesnacht durchziehn;

Da hebt sich eine Scholle,
Die Liebe lauscht hervor,
Ob noch der Winter grolle,
Noch Laut der Stürme Chor?

Sieht grün sie nun die Weite,
Erträgt sie's nicht im Haus,
Sie fliegt auf Spiel und Beute
Gleich andern Vögeln aus.

Doch friert es etwas nächtig,
Sucht sie der Menschen Dach,
Und schürt ein Feuer mächtig
Im jungen Herzen wach.

Confirmed with Vesta. Taschenbuch für das Jahr 1835. V. Jahrgang. Gedruckt von Franz Ludwig, Wien, pages 41-42.
