Ich bete zu Dir in heiliger Nacht, 
Und schwing mich zu Dir in die Ferne, 
Und droben sind in goldener Pracht 
Erwacht, erwacht 
Die Boten des Himmels, die Sterne. 

Ich grülße Dich mild in heiliger Nacht, 
Das Auge von Thränen gefeuchtet, 
Im tiefsten Herzen Dein Bild erwacht 
In stiller Nacht, 
Dein Bild, das einst mir geleuchtet. 

Ich bete zu Dir in heiliger Nacht, 
Zu Dir, die so weit und so ferne 
Es strahlt der Himmel in goldener Pracht 
Und durch die Nacht 
Zieh'n schimmernd die ewigen Sterne.
