An Dich, mein Lieb', mein süßes Leben,
Daran ich Tag und Nacht gedenk',
Viel tausend Grüße mitgegeben.

Ich ging am Morgen durch den Wald,
Da hört' ich's flüstern in den Zweigen,
Die Vögel lachten, Blum' und Blatt
Sah mich so schelmisch an, so eigen.

Die Rose hielt mit ihrem Dorn
Mich fest, als wollt' sie mir was sagen.
Ob wohl der Mond geplaudert hat,
Daß ich ihm Grüße aufgetragen?
