by Carl XV, King of Sweden (1826 - 1872)
Translation by Gottfried von Leinburg (1825 - 1893)

Die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Swedish (Svenska)
Mondschein glänzt hernieder hold;
Tropft herab wie flüssig Gold
Von den Blüthenzweigen;
Klänge durch die Lüfte wehn,
Die wie eine Botschaft gehn
Durch das nächt'ge Schweigen.

Sel'ger Frieden! -- O wie schön,
Solchem Ton von Himmelshöhn
Ahnungsvoll zu lauschen! --
Wohl an ihm mit Sehnsuchtsschmerz
Mag das sturmverschlag'ne Herz
Nächtlich sich berauschen.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Carl XV. König von Schweden und Norwegen. Übersetzt von Gottfried von Leinburg, Berlin, Allgem. Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, Sigismund Wolff, 1870, page 16.
