Wo trübe Träumer ohne Lichtgedanken
Wie leere Schiffe unterm Himmel schwanken,
Der Stern, der mich geführt hat und gefeit.

Die Spur, die du gegangen zu betreten,
Daß ich nicht irrte, war mein hohes Ziel.
Von irdischen Geschäften, Drang and Spiel
Trug mich empor das Glück dich anzubeten.

Wie nachts ein Segel steuernd heimatwärts
Der Leuchte zu die schweren Nebel spaltet
Und so gelenkt sich in den Hafen rettet,

Ging ich getrost, den Blick an dich gekettet,
Die Hände gläubig auf der Brust gefaltet,
Durch Flut und Dunkel an dein strahlend Herz.
