by Julius Mosen (1803 - 1867)

Die Grabblume
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sie that die großen braunen Augen zu,
Zwölf Mägdlein trugen sie zur Ruh',

Und Engel glänzend in Silberlahn
Gingen mit Fahnen und Lichtern voran.

Aus dem Kirchenfenster vom Altar herab
Fällt der Kerzenschein auf das grüne Grab.

Da wächst heraus eine Blume roth,
Die überwunden den bittern Tod.

Es kommt ein Ritter frisch im Muth,
Der steckt die Blume auf seinen Hut

Und reitet hinaus in die blaue Fern
Entgegen dem goldenen Morgenstern.
