by Heinrich Hoffmann (1809 - 1894), as H. Hoffmann-Donner

Wie in der Kirche kühlig
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie in der Kirche kühlig
Ist's hier im grünen Wald;
Den Athem Gottes fühl' ich,
Wie er mich leis umwallt.

Es wölbt sich aus den schlanken
Baumstämmen grün das Dach,
Und leichte Schatten schwanken
Am Boden allgemach.

In meinem Herzen hör' ich
Ein tröstend mildes Wort:
Auch du bist Gott gehörig,
Er ist dein Schirm und Hort!

Kling' hin aus frischer Kehle,
Was mir das Herz geschwellt!
Und aufwärts jauchzt die Seele
Hoch über Wald und Welt.
