possibly by Gustav Adolph Hölzel (1813 - 1883)

Die Lerche
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich bin ein heit'res Vögelein,
Und singe frisch im Sonnenschein --
Mein Danklied Gott dem Herrn --
Ich weiß, er hat uns gern!

Er gab uns ja auch Flügelein,
Gleich seinen lieben Engelein --
D'rum schwing' ich mich in sein Bereich,
Wo Mensch, wie Thier ihm alle gleich --

Und schmett're froh und gern!
Mein Lied, zum Lob' des Herrn!

Confirmed with Fliegende Blätter, band LXIII , München: Braun & Schneider, 1875. Issue nro. 1579, page 135. Beneath the poem it says "G. Hölzel".
