by Hermann Krüsi (1775 - 1845)

Ruh' und Stille bringt die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ruh' und Stille bringt die Nacht
Auf die Erde nieder;
Sonne hat den Lauf vollbracht,
Sterne leuchten wieder.
Tag und Nacht, o Gott! sind dein,
Du nur waltest, du allein.

Ob du gleich im Licht wohnst,
Menschen nie dich fahen,
In dem Himmeln ewig thronst,
Darf ich dir mich nahen.
Seel' und Leib befehl' ich dir.
Walte gnädig über mir.

Guter Vater, schütze du
Auch die lieben Meinen;
Lass nach einer sanften Ruh'
Licht uns wieder scheinen.
Voll Vertrauen schlaf' ich ein;
Du, mein Gott, wirst bei mir sein.
