Nu er Dagen fuld af Sang,
og nu er Viben kommen,
Bekkasinen Natten lang
håndterer Elskovstrommen.
Plukke, plukke dugget Strå,
plukke, plukke Siv ved Aa,
plukke, plukke Blomster.

Engen er nu gyldengul
af tunge Kabbelejer,
Søndenvinden byder op,
og Dueurten nejer.

Dammen ligger Dagen ud
med Brudelys i Hænde,
rækker højt de ranke Skud,
at Solen må dem tænde.

Nu vil Mø med Silkestik
på Brudelinet sømme.
Den, som ingen Bejler fik,
hun ta'r sig én i Drømme.

Ræk mig en Forglemmigej
og sidst en Krusemynte,
sådan slutter vi vor Leg
så glad, som den begyndte.
Plukke, plukke dugget Strå,

Aujourd'hui le jour est empli de chants,
et aujourd'hui le vanneau est arrivé,
la bécassine tout au long de la nuit
a frappé son tambour d'amour.
Cueille, cueille la paille humide,
cueille, cueille le jonc près du ruisseau,
cueille, cueille des fleurs.

La prairie est maintenant jaune d'or,
couverte de renoncules,
le vent du sud fait l'invitation
et l'épilobe fait la révérence.

L'étang se tourne vers le jour,
des fleurs de jonc à la main,
dressant en l'air les tiges raides
pour que le soleil puisse les chauffer.

Aujourd'hui la jeune fille veut brocher
sa robe de mariée avec de la soie.
Celle qui n'a pas de prétendant
se réfugie dans les rêves.
