[Zu trinken bin ich]1 stets gewillt, 
Zu trinken stets gemeinet, 
So lang die Wasser gehn zum Meer, 
So lang die Sonne scheinet. 

Als Gott so heiß die Sonne schuf, 
That er es uns zu Liebe, 
Daß unser Durst, ach, unser Durst! 
Nur immer munter bliebe. 

Und als er so viel Wasser schloß 
In Ufer und in Küsten, 
Da that er's, daß wir desto mehr 
Den Wein zu schätzen wüßten. 

Und daß er schuf so wenig Wein, 
Das wollte sich gebühren: 
Es läßt sich halt in dieser Welt 
Das Gute selten spüren.
