Wachst, Liebchen, Du in stiller Nacht?
Kennest Liebchen auch der Sehnsucht Macht?
O lass bei meinem heissen Fleh'n
das Fenster heut noch offen stehn.

Es ruhet längst schon süss und fest,
was Lieb' und Sehnsucht ruhen lässt.
O Liebchen komm an's Fenster Dein,
lass schauen Deine Äugelein!

Wie ist's so schön im Mondenschein!
Es weht die Luft so kühl und rein.
Horch wie die Leier sehnend klingt!
Das Vöglein selbst im Traum noch singt!

Da that sich  auf das Fensterlein,
es sahn heraus im Mondenschein
die schönsten schönsten Äugelein,
wie freundlich waren sie und rein.
