[Es]1 war ein wundersüßer Traum, 
Den ich geträumt zur Nacht, 
Ich sinn und sinn und weiß es kaum, 
Was mir der Traum gebracht. 

Doch fühl ich, daß mein Lieb es war, 
Die mich im Traum gegrüßt, 
Der Traum hat mir ja wunderbar 
Die Morgenzeit versüßt. 

Du fernes Lieb, zu dir, zu dir, 
Drängt qualvoll nun mein Herz, 
In Sehnsucht glüht die Seele mir, 
Du meine Lust, mein Schmerz.
