Fern aus der Heimath Land
Bin ich hieher verbannt --
Schmerzt mich so sehr.
Fremd ist mir Alles hier,
Alles so seltsam mir,
Traurig und leer.

Als ich daheim noch war,
Hatt' ich das ganze Jahr
Sommer zumal;
Kannte nicht kalte Zeit,
Stubenluft, Winterleid,
Sorgen und Qual.

Und in Verbannung noch
Grün' ich und blüh' ich doch
So wie vorher;
's Ist oft im Winter hier
Als ob es Frühling mir
Immer noch wär'.

Denk' ich, o Heimath, dein,
Kenn' ich nicht Gram und Pein,
Kenn' ich nicht Schmerz.
Träum' ich von dir die Nacht,
Ist mir als Blüth' erwacht
Morgens das Herz.
