Au bout du toit de la grange, un pinson chante. Il répète, par intervalles égaux, sa note héréditaire. À force de le regarder, l’œil trouble ne le distingue plus de la grange massive. Toute la vie de ces pierres, de ce foin, de ces poutres et de ces tuiles s’échappe par un bec d’oiseau. Ou plutôt la grange elle-même siffle un petit air.
