Die Nachbarn. Komische Oper in einem Akt

Opera by August Horn (1825 - 1893)

Lied an die Nacht
(Sung text for setting by A. Horn)
 Matches base text

Language: German (Deutsch)
Sinke hinab, ambrosische Nacht,
Sinke hinab auf die Erde,
Decke mit deiner Flügel Pracht
Kummer und Noth und Beschwerde.

Führe an deinem Himmel hinan
Alle die goldenen Sterne,
Laß sie wandeln die stille Bahn,
Oben in himmlischer Ferne.

Laß dein funkelndes Himmelszelt
Rings um die Erde sich legen,
Breite die Hände über die Welt
Still im beglückenden Segen.

Sinke hinab, ambrosische Nacht,
Sinke hinab auf die Erde,
Daß, wo sehnend die Liebe wacht,
Glücklich der Liebende werde.
