He somiat que entre la mar nocturna una sirena de bell si d'argent em deia:-Fill d'aqueixa vil cofurna, la dura terra sense argent llisquent, fita avui la mirada taciturna en les lluors de l'onejar brunzent: són l'alfabet en argentada espurna del bell amor, immarcescible al vent-. Jo m'abocava a aprendre aquell misteri d'un gran defalliment i un gran imperi. El vent, però, de tot senyal escrit deixà, en passant, escorrialles soles, i cantava:-En tan lleus abeceroles, la lletra mor abans no té sentit.

Enmig de tu i de mi hi havia tantes roses; la pressa de l'amor desféu les més descloses. El so de les besades entemorí els ocells; callaren els més dolços, fugiren els més bells. I anem deixant enrera la humil corrua morta, retuda per l'empenta del remolí que ens porta: els dies, tal vegada de cel i d'or curulls; caiguts bocaterrosa mai no els hem vist els ulls.
