Die Dämmerung naht – im Sterben liegt der Tag;
Sein Schatten deckt mich zu, der kühl auf einem Blatte lag,
Auf seinen roten Beeren.

Ich baute uns ein Himmelreich, dir unantastbar zu gehören;
Das aber an den Riffen deiner Herzensnacht zerbrach.
Die Vögel singen und vom Nachtigallenschlag,
Erzittert noch mein Bild am Wald im Bach.
