Duet of a desire

Song Cycle by Diana Cotoman

1. Never allowed before
 (Sung text)

Language: English
Never allowed before,
My heart breaks free,
And soars above the chaos of the streets
To fly in iridescent blue
To greet the sun,
My butterfly desire for you
Can easily cope with
Cold
When what I seek
Is life affirming
Gold.

2. As the crocus blossom
 (Sung text)

Language: English
As the crocus blossom listens for the sun
And pushes skywards
Through unyielding soil,
So I in frozen solitude
Slow as a tortoise,
Creep on towards Spring.
With hibernating heart
Too safely stored,
I dare not dream.
But as the merry music
Of your voice
Stirs me awake,
I brave the cold
And turn to meet
Your tender shoots of courage
With a smile

3. Jumping the cracks
 (Sung text)

Language: English
Jumping the cracks
Avoiding the lines
I want to break free of fear,
Not bound by rules
Written for others
In another time and place.
Dare I approach?
Can I suggest.
We talk and hear each other's tales
Of woe, and weather-beaten love?
You have so much to teach me
Things that I still need to learn.
Please let me in,
And let me nestle.
I have always longed to nestle,
Under the gentle shadow of your wing.
