4. Koekoek  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Als de vroege koekoek roept
En de lijster, onder 't fluiten
Van de rode bessen snoept,
Loop ik ook mijn woning uit en
Fluit in zonnige' ochtend buiten,
Waar ik zoeter luiden zoek
Dan de lijsters kunnen fluiten,
Dan de koekoek roept: Koekóék !

Koekoek vroeg in 't koele bosch,
Lijster in de groene struiken,
Roep de blauwe blinden los
Die een venster hóóg beluiken,
Waar de wingerd-ranken sluiken
Bleek van blâren, teêr van tros,
Lijster in de groene struiken,
Koekoek roep de blinden los!

Text Authorship:

  • by Wilhelm Ange François Bastiaanse (1868 - 1947), "Koekoek"
