Heiliger Natur genügt!
Seht, wie rings ihm Kränze blühen,
Wie ihm Lenz und Maiflur glühen,
Wie der Himmel vor ihm liegt!

Glücklich, wer den Pfad der Tugend
Reinen Herzens niederwallt:
Unschuldsvoll die Lust genießet,
Die auf jeder Flur ihm sprießet,
Ihm aus jedem Hain erschallt!

Glücklich, wer den Gang des Ruhmes
Sichern Schrittes kommt und geht:
Sein Gedächtniß schwindet nimmer;
Ewig strahlt des Kranzes Schimmer,
Der in seinen Locken weht!

Glücklich, wen die süße Freiheit
Rettet von des Drängers Spott:
Keinem Kaiser darf er weichen!
Göttern ist er zu vergleichen;
Selber ist er schon ein Gott!

Glücklich, glücklich, wem die Freundschaft
Ihre Hand der Treue gibt:
Wen ein Freund durch's Leben leitet,
Wie sein Genius begleitet,
Und auf nun und ewig liebt!

Aber glücklich, drei Mahl glücklich,
Wen die Liebe glücklich macht!
Alles Heil hat er empfauen;
Alle Seligkeiten nahen
Ihm bei Tage, wie bei Nacht!
