Erdbeeren glühn im Garten, Ihr Duft ist süß und voll, Mir ist, ich müsse warten, Daß durch den grünen Garten Bald meine Mutter kommen soll. Mir ist, ich bin ein Knabe, Und alles war geträumt, Was ich vertan, versäumt, Verspielt, verloren habe. Noch liegt im Gartenfrieden Die reiche Welt vor mir, Ist alles mir beschieden, Gehöret alles mir. Benommen bleib ich stehen Und wage keinen Schritt, Daß nicht die Düfte verwehen Und meine gute Stunde mit.

Les maduixes llueixen vermelles al jardí, la seva flaire és dolça i plena, em sembla que hauria d’esperar que, a través del verd jardí, aviat vingués la meva mare. Em sembla que sóc un minyó, i que tot ho he somiat, tot el que he malbaratat, desaprofitat, jugat i perdut. En la pau del jardí resta encara l’abundant món davant meu, tot és designat per a mi, tot em pertany. Atordit, m’aturo i no goso fer ni un pas més, per por que les flaires s’esvaeixin i amb elles, la meva bona hora.

Vent al matossar i refilar d’ocells i a dalt, al més alt, un dolç atzur, una silent, superba flota de núvols...
