Dort, wo der stille Garten liegt, Hat meine Mutter mich gewiegt; Vielleicht - es ist so lange her - Steht Garten, Haus und Baum nicht mehr. Vielleicht geht jetzt ein Wiesenweg Und Pflug und Egge drüber weg, Von Heimat, Garten, Haus und Baum Ist nichts geblieben als mein Traum.

Allà, on hi ha el jardí tranquil, la meva mare em bressolava; potser —fa tant de temps— el jardí, la casa i l'arbre ja no hi són. Potser ara un camí dels prats i l'arada i el rascle hi passen, de la llar, el jardí, la casa i l'arbre no en resta res, només el meu somni.
