1. Wie feuriges Erz  [sung text not yet checked]
by Carl Geißler (1802 - 1868), "Wie feuriges Erz", op. 120 (Haus-Andachten in Liedern von Friedrich Oser), Heft 2 no. 5, published 1859 [ voice and piano ], Leipzig: Stoll

1. Like fiery ore
Language: English
Like fiery ore, Pain surges within my bosom! Then again it grows so dark, so cold within it, As if the light had forever departed! As if I were alone, Utterly alone, The last person upon earth, oh horror! Who shall help me from out of this dreadful torment? Only my Lord [is] there, As I never saw Him before! Arise! wrestle with Him, and be it unto death, As the night wrestles with the red of dawn! My Lord and my God, Oh, my Lord and my God! Though the pain may burn to my very marrow, I shall not let go of Thee unless Thou blessest me!
