El vent reposa a les branques, i fatigat es gronxa, com venint d’una festa llunyana, sona, esvanint-se, el rastre d’una cançó. La meva felicitat s’adorm i somriu mig en somnis, amb a penes formoses i menudes galtes i bells llavis. El meu amor s’ajeu a la falda de la meva cançó i estira els seus delicats membres i fa un ulls com taronges. Les lleugeres regnes dels meus versos em cauen de les mans, la meva cançó mena ses ales vers el verd país del somni.

Hi ha tanta bellesa al món que mai et podrà sadollar i que sempre et serà fidel i que sempre de nou esguardaràs: la vista des de la cresta d’una muntanya, un viarany tranquil a la vora de la mar verda, un rierol que salta per damunt del rocam, un ocell que canta en la foscúria, un infant que encara somriu en somnis, l’esclat de les estrelles en una nit d’hivern, la vermellor del capvespre en un llac transparent envoltat de muntanyes i geleres, una cançó escoltada en un tancat del carrer, una salutació mútua amb uns vianants, un instant de pensar en la infantesa, una pena sempre viva i tendra, que durant moltes nits amb lleuger dolor eixampla el teu cor encongit i damunt les estrelles belles i pàl·lides et basteix un llunyà reialme de nostàlgia.
