Alle. Hui! wie die Wolke Von Staub und Brand So wild sich stürzet Auf's dürre Land! Erster. Auf der Oasis Heult' ich und lag, Konnt' sie nicht dörren Den langen Tag. Zweiter. Mich trug der Wirbel Vorbei die Fluth; Ich schlürft' und schlürfte, Und blieb doch Gluth. Dritter. Mir dörrt die Hitze Den heisern Schlund, Nur Blut mag kühlen Den heißen Mund. Alle. Drum laßt uns wirbeln Zum staub'gen Pfad, Wo matt erlechzend Der Wandrer naht. Den heißen Odem Er schlürft ihn ein, Sein starrend Blut mag Uns Kühlung seyn.
