Wer sagt mir: Welch ein Zauber quoll
Beseligend in dieser Luft?
Ich weiß allein: mein Herz war voll
Von Sternenlicht und Alpenduft.

Quietly I sat in front of the alpine house
In a springtime night of scented purity,
I gazed far out into the high mountains,
Which were irradiated by the splendour of the stars.

Who can tell me: What enchantment welled forth
Blissfully in this air?
I only know: my heart was full
Of starlight and of alpine scents.
