by Christoph August Tiedge (1752 - 1841)

Unsterblichkeit, auf hehren Schwingen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Unsterblichkeit, auf hehren Schwingen
Erflieget der Geist dein lichteres Reich.
Weit hinter ihm, wo die Gestalten ringen,
Verrauschet der Sturm am dürren Gesträuch.

Ihr, vom Naturgesetz gehalten,
Ihr Sonnen, durchstrahlt den ewigen Raum;
Mein Geist fliegt auf von den Naturgewalten,
Und leuchtender strahlt sein ahnender Traum.

Es ist von ihm hinweggesunken
Der irdische Druck; das Göttliche nur,
Den linden, den reinen Ätherfunken
Entwinket ein Gott dem Schoß der Natur!
