by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Im Freien, ach, im Freien
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Freien, ach, im Freien,
Wie ist's nun grün und licht,
Im Maien, ach, im Maien,
Wer möchte wandern nicht?

Grüß' Gott, ihr lieben Haine,
Grüss Gott, du dunkler Wald,
Ihr Dörfer und ihr Raine,
Ihr Berge, grau und alt.

Nicht länger könnt' ich tragen
Die Sehnsucht in der Brust.
Wer fänd' bei solchen Tagen
In dumpfen Häusern Lust?

Nun rauscht, ihr grünen Bäume,
Nun duft', du bunter Hain,
Nun schließt, ihr lieben Räume,
Nur gar den Wand'rer ein.

Nun singt die hellsten Lieder,
Ihr Vöglein in den Höh'n,
wer weiß es, ob wir wieder
uns je so fröhlich seh'n?!
