Vom Scheiden
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: German (Deutsch)
Dies alte wort vom Scheiden,
Das so viel Herzen bricht,
Nun füllt es auch uns Beiden
Mit Thränen das Gesicht.

So nimm die letzten Grüße
Denn hin für allezeit!
Schau' mich noch an, du Süße, --
Recht tief! -- Der weg ist weit!

Einmal in all' dem Harme
Schling' vor dem letzten Gang
Um mich noch deine Arme --
Recht fest! -- die Zeit ist lang!

Frühling wird's wieder werden
Und wieder grünt das Feld;
Wie schön ist's auf der Erden,
Wie leer ist's auf der Welt!
