Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
   Der Abend kommt leise hernieder
Auf Dorf und Wald und Flur;
Es schweigen der Vögelein Lieder,--
Noch eines höret man nur!

   In purpurnen Gluten sinket
Die Sonne dort zur Ruh,
Und droben am Himmel blinket
Ein Sternlein schon freundlich mir zu!

   Die Abendglöcklein klingen
So lieblich nah und fern,
Und fromme Gebete schwingen
Sich leise hinauf zu dem Herrn!

   Nun herrschet Ruhe und Frieden
Wohl in der stillen Nacht,
Und Alles schlummert hienieden,--
Nur Gott im Himmel wacht!--
