Die blaue Glockenblume
(Sung text for setting by L. Roth)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sieh mich nicht an so liebevoll,
ich meide deine Blicke
und weiß nicht, was ich sagen soll,
zieh' ängstlich mich zurücke.

Zur Höhe wand'r' ich, pflücke mir
zu meinem Eigentume
als meines Busens schönste Zier
die blaue Glockenblume.

Nicht Myrthenreis, nicht Majoran,
nicht Purpurros', nicht Nelken,
Reseda nicht und Thymian;
sie mögen all' verwelken.

Die schönste auf der weiten Heid'
erblühet mir zum Ruhme
in lieblicher Bescheidenheit,
die blaue Glockenblume.

Composition:

Set to music by Louis Roth , "Die blaue Glockenblume", published 1888 [ vocal duet with piano ], from Die Lieder des Mirza Schaffy. Operette. , no. 3, Hamburg, Cranz
