Bladerval
 (Sung text for setting by J. De Backer)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
De boomen strooien weêr den weg
     met wakke winterblâren,
die, vol gevangen morgendauw,
     te gronde nedervaren.

 ...

Geen zonne nu, geen vlindervlucht,
     geen blommen meer, die blinken;
maar blâren, die, verwelkerd, uit
     de hooge boomen zinken.

 ...

De lucht is heel doorwaaid ervan:
     de wegen en de weiden,
de voren in den akkergrond
     en kan ik onderscheiden.

 ...

Komt, koning Winter, komt nu maar;
     bij honderdduizendtallen,
van blommen en van blâren, is
     al 't zomervolk gevallen.

Composition:

    Set to music by Jos De Backer , "Bladerval", stanzas 1,3,5,7 [ voice and piano ]

Text Authorship:

  • by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899), "Bladerval"
