Die Abendglocken klingen
 (Sung text for setting by A. Gorter)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Abendglocken klingen
herüber über den See;
in meinem wunden Herzen
erwacht mein altes Weh'.

Und wie im Traume kehrt mir
die ferne Zeit zurück,
da wir den Klängen lauschten
im ersten Liebesglück.

Wir hielten uns umfangen,
zu Füßen rauschte die Flut,
und Berg und Tal erglänzten
in Abendsonnenglut.

Das ist nun längst vergangen,
entschwunden Lust und Lieb';
das Leid in meinem Herzen
ist alles, was mir blieb.
