Asphodelen
(Sung text for setting by W. Kienzl)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Horch', die Asphodelen lispeln
auf dem grauen Plan der Heide,
heben raunend ihre Köpfchen,
klagen in verwaisten Tönen,
und die Sehnsucht klingt in ihnen,
und wie Tränen tropft es nieder!

Horch', die Asphodelen lispeln,
deuten die geheimen Gluten,
die im Schoß der Nächte glühten,
flüstern von den großen Flammen,
die nur einmal sengend nahten,
wiegen deine blasse Jugend
in den letzten, linden Schlummer!
