So brecht das Laub von hundertjähr'gen Eichen:
Für unsern Dichter einen Ehrenkranz!  
Es sei der deutsche Baum des Tages Zeichen: 
Das schönste, höchste in des Festes Glanz. 

Doch wisst, für Dichterstirnen nicht alleine 
Hat unser Vaterland das Eichenblatt: 
Drum denket, deutsche Brüder, im Vereine 
Am deutschen Feste männlich deutscher That!
