When shall we three meet again?
(Sung text for setting by S. Webbe)
 Matches base text
Language: English
When shall we three meet again,
in Thunder, Lightning, or in Rain?

When the Hurley-burley's done,
when the Battle's lost and won,
that will be e'er set of Sun,
where the place?

Upon the heath,
there we go to meet Macbeth.
There we'll perform our magic rites,
and raise such artificial Sprights
as by the strength of their illusion
shall draw him on to his confusion

we'll double, double, toil and trouble,
and make our hell broth boil and bubble!

Composition:

Set to music by Samuel Webbe (1740 - 1815), "When shall we three meet again?" [ chorus a cappella ], glee

Text Authorship:

  • by William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), appears in Macbeth
