Die Lerchen singen, die Hähne schrein.

Wach auf! so mahnt der Morgenhauch,
Die Knospen küßend am Rosenstrauch.

Wach auf, wach auf! so ruft so hallt 
Mit gold'nen Kronen der Eichenwald.

Und der Bach voll Feuer, die Trift voll Thau
Und wie Mädchenodem der Südwind lau,

Und mein Herz so voll und die Brust so weit
In der fröhlichen, friedlichen Morgenzeit.
