Frühlings Abschied
(Sung text for setting by H. Esser)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Frühling sprach zu mir:
Ich kann nicht bleiben hier.
Ich lasse meine Lust
In deiner treuen Brust.
Austheile sie der Welt,
Wie es dir wohlgefällt.
Gib einen Frühlingstraum
Dem Wald und jedem Baum,
Der Flur und jedem Strauch,
Und deiner Liebsten auch!
Daß sie mich nicht vergißt,
Und auch mich nicht vermißt,
Bis wieder ich allhier
Erschein' in meiner Zier.

Composition:

Set to music by Heinrich Esser (1818 - 1872), "Frühlings Abschied", op. 11 (1844), published 1844 [ voice, piano, cello or clarinet ], Mainz, Schott

Text Authorship:

  • by Friedrich Rückert (1788 - 1866), no title, appears in Lyrische Gedichte, in 3. Liebesfrühling, in 1. Erster Strauß. Erwacht, no. 69
