Schneeglöckchen
 (Sung text for setting by J. Maier)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich kenn' ein Blümchen,
So einfach, so schön;
Wie Engel des Himmels
Im Lichtglanz zu sehn.

Es hüllet bescheiden
In Demuth sich ein;
Es ist dieses Blümchen
Wie Unschuld so rein.

Noch trauert die Erde
In starrendem Eis;
Da hüllt sich das Zarte
In blendendes Weiß.

 ...

Es lächelt voll Wehmuth,
Voll Mitleid mir zu;
Dann winken die Sterne,
Es eilet zur Ruh'.

Ich liebe dich, Blümchen
Auf schneeiger Flur;
Dich, Bote des Frühlings
Der höhern Natur.

O, wäre das Leben
Ein Bild nur von dir:
Dann wäre der Friede
Des Himmels schon hier.
