Erwacht zum neuen Leben
Steht vor mir die Natur,
Und sanfte Lüfte wehen
Durch die verjüngte Flur.
Empor aus seiner Hülle
Drängt sich der junge Halm,
Der Wälder öde Stille
Belebt der Vögel Psalm.
Die Flur im Blumenkleide
Ist, Schöpfer, dein Altar,
Und Opfer reiner Freude
Weiht dir das junge Jahr;
Es bringt die ersten Düfte
Der blauen Veilchen dir,
Und schwebend durch die Lüfte
Lobsingt die Lerche dir.
...
Lobsing' ihm, meine Seele,
Dem Gott, der Freuden schafft!
Lobsing' ihm und erzähle
Die Werke seiner Kraft!
Hier von dem Blütenhügel
Bis zu der Sterne Bahn
Steig' auf der Andacht Flügel
Dein Loblied himmelan!

Note (courtesy Laura Prichard): This is the second of three songs that Mozart entered in his Verzeichnis on January 4, 1791. Mozart titled the song "Im Frühlings Anfange" (In Spring’s Beginning), but the first edition had the title "Dankesempfindungen gegen den Schöpfer des Frühlings" (Thankful Feelings Toward the Creator of Spring).
Composition:
Set to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791), "Im Frühlings Anfang", alternate title: "Dankesempfindungen gegen den Schöpfer des Frühlings", K. 597, stanzas 1-2,6

La natura si risveglia a nuova vita
si erge davanti a me,
E brezze leggere percorrono
l’innevata campagna.
Il giovane tronco si spinge verso l’alto
fuori dalle sue vecchie spoglie,
L’inno degli uccelli riempie di vita
il silenzio muto della foresta.
O Padre, la tua dolcezza
riempie monti, valli e prati.
Verdeggiano i capi
spolverati dalla rugiada del mattino;
andando verso il pascolo fiorito,
il gregge si adagia nella valle
e nella polvere prolificano
innumerevoli esseri viventi.
