Kuckuckslied
(Sung text for setting by G. Graben-Hoffmann)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn der Sommer kehret wieder,
Kehr' auch ich ins Land zurück.
Singen dann die Vögel wieder,
Sing' auch ich mein Meisterstück.
Kuckuck, kuckuck, hop, hopp!

Und ich muß dann immer wandern
Ohne Nest und heimatlos.
Doch es zieh'n mir gern die andern
Meine eig'nen Kinder groß.
Kuckuck, kuckuck, hop, hopp!

Könnt' ich lesen nun und schreiben,
Schrieb' ich meinen Namen noch.
Aber nein, ich laß es bleiben:
Mein Gesang verrät mich doch.
Kuckuck, kuckuck, hop, hopp!
